No Stream This Weekend. Assassin’s Creed & The Steam Autumn Sale

Still trying to come to terms with Ozempic. So I skipped streaming this weekend.

Autumn Steam Sale, Ubisoft Literally Copy & Pasted a Game

This is a big-ass article. I know all about ass articles and this is a big one.

A female Assassin in cosplay for the game Assassin's CreedThe Autumn? Steam Sale
Why is it called the “autumn” steam sale when it’s just about winter? Weird.

Oh Steam sale, how I love and hate you. But this go round I limited myself to 13 bucks.

  • Assassins Creed Odyssey
  • Mass Effect Legendary Edition
  • Lucy Got Problems
  • Alice The Madness Returns

Not much else I wanted, though some really enticed me. But, I kept to those.

Now usually I would buy them and they sit in my library unplayed, maybe forever. The last round of games I got last year, not necessarily in a sale was:

  • Baldurs Gate 3
  • Chaser
  • Dave the Diver
  • Kingdom Come Deliverance
  • Huniepop
  • Starfield

Of those, I played Dave the Diver for a good 8-10 hours. Super fun. Played the glitchy mess of BG3 for 20-25 hours and Starfield well, I hit 800 hours last week. I also bought Avatar Pandora game from Epic, which I really enjoyed played about 20-25 hours of that.

Why I had to tell you that, I am not sure. But it was cool to look back a little.

Ubisoft. You are your own worst enemy

The Thanksgiving weekend was here. My Ozempic was kicking my ass and I needed something to take my mind off things. So, insert Assassins Creed Odyssey. I loved Origins, played about 100 hours of it. The graphics, the landscapes the historical accuracy; everything was great. Even loved the mechanics, the menu systems… there was very little I did not like. So Odyssey was a good choice for the next in line.

I would of sworn I played that game. Same mechanics, same menu system, same graphics, same fighting. Just a few different aesthetic changes, same quests with different names. I was floored to see just how blatant that was. It was like what they did with Baldurs Gate 3 in some aspects, all but copying the base game, many assets and the mechanics from Baldurs Gate 2. Bet you didn’t know it is a replicated game with a different plot line.

Now, for me, I did not mind that too much with Odyssey. At first it did but I was having fun with it and the graphics and locations just sucked me in. They did it a little different where you really can’t explore outside the region otherwise you will get obliterated by someone 20 levels higher. But there was enough in each region to enjoy and explore. I stopped after about 20 hours where I went into a new region and I was fighting things of the same level and was dying every other time. That is on me, I’m not a good gamer.

But looking back on what is happening with them now, I can totally see how people are getting mad that these are the same games over and over again, just different aesthetics. It is spilling over to other companies that really do not deserve the hate.

The final and determining factor, is their games are getting worse. I am not sure how, but they are. So Ubisoft, I do enjoy your games, Origins, Odyssey and Avatar; all very enjoyable for me. But since I did not really play too many of your earlier games, I did not see the replication process. Hopefully they survive, but anymore blunders and they look to go under and/or bought out.
