Oh Youtube.
They tell us they want to help. Make our channel grow and unicorns will fart candy corn and the world will burst into song. But that is a lie, flat out lie. They do not care about anyone non monetized (business wise, it is understandable) or small for that matter and make things very difficult for us all.
Why?
Good question. Bazillion dollar company run by a thousand dollar management team fresh off a bender. It’s embarrassing really. But they are so big and powerful, I guess it doesn’t really matter to them. OK, enough of that swill, that is something we already know pretty well.
The inset image is about a system I devised to see what is age gated in my video since they do not tell me. But it fails all the time too. A 5 minute span of my video is age gated. When I divide that span into 3, none of them are age gated. How can a 5 minute video be age gated, but divide that into 3, and none of them are age gated? Yeah… YT is broke. (Beating a dead horse here, gotcha).
After this last debacle with EP#72 The Silver Shroud.
For me to find out if there is anything wrong with my video I have to do the following
– Render out 2 videos, one high resolution another low resolution.
– Post the low resolution, set it to unlisted AND watch it once. You guessed it, watch it once before ANYTHING gets reported.
– If there is a problem I have to then, cut that video into four – five minute videos. Upload them.
– One of them will go “age gate” and I then will cut that particular video into 3 segments.
– One of these will go “age gate” and I will then know where I have to censor the video.
– Censor that portion of the video.
– Reupload it and wait to see if it goes age gate.
– Then finally, edit / censor the entire video where it told me too, reupload it in full resolution and hope that YT doesn’t **** me.
Nice huh?
YT is getting better at things and they are getting worse. No revelation there.
BUt I wanted to post what some creators now have to go through to get anything on Youtube without them screwing everything up.
I’m sorry, how much money did they make last quarter? Oh.. 1.3b – is that all?
